Is OLED a good idea for office work?
OLED is known for film and games. It is also a pleasure for documents, code and email, with a few sensible habits. The honest answer.

OLED displays are usually discussed in terms of films and games. Many people use them for ordinary work all day. The honest answer to whether that is a good idea is yes, with a little care.
What OLED does well at work
- Calm dark themes. A dark editor, inbox or design tool on OLED is genuinely black, with no grey glow behind the text.
- Instant response. Scrolling, dragging windows and moving the cursor feel immediate at 240 or 280 Hz.
- Comfort in a dim room. No backlight bleed in the corners, and no glow from black areas.
What to keep in mind
- Static elements. Toolbars, taskbars and docks that never move for months are the main consideration with any OLED. Let the taskbar hide itself, use a dark theme where you can, and let the display sleep when you step away. Living with an OLED display.
- Very bright rooms. Full-screen white pages on OLED are typically less bright than on a bright LCD. In a sunlit office, a high-brightness LCD may suit you better.
- Small text up close. OLED subpixel layouts can add faint colour to the edges of tiny text. Most people stop noticing quickly.
Our recommendation
For a mixed day of work, film and games in a room with controlled light, Solitaire 27 or Nocturne 49. For long days of bright documents in a very bright studio, Horizon 49 or Atelier 40.
